Late last week CJSW lost one of the most honest, unique, and original voices ever to grace the airwaves. Reverend Ron, the longtime host of The Blues Witness, passed away on Thursday night. He will be missed by so many of us. We truly are a community in mourning.

Many CJSW programmers plan to give tribute to the tremendous contribution Ron made to our station, broadcasting in general, and the community at large. Be sure to tune in to The Blues Witness this Wednesday (6:30-8pm) for a special tribute show, hosted by many of Ron's close friends at CJSW. You also won't want to miss these other programs, which will salute Ron's career in their own slots:

South Louisiana Gumbo (Mon 7-8pm): Chef Wayne has been deeply influenced by Reverend Ron during his time at CJSW. Ron trained him to be a programmer, and set a programming example on which Chef Wayne has tried to model his own show, South Louisiana Gumbo. Wayne has many tapes of Ron's shows going back to the mid nineties and plans to showcase clips from these recordings amongst a set of blues and gospel music on this week's South Louisiana Gumbo.
Good Character Requirement (Wed 10-11pm): Host Taryn Montgomery got to know the Reverend hanging out at the CJSW Studio on Wednesday evenings for many years. She plans to recognize him on her show this coming Wednesday.
Morning Joy (Thurs 6-9am): Host Philip Barker intends to devote the first and final hours of his program this week to the Blues, in honour of the Reverend.

More special programming may be developed, as Ron is deserving of the greatest tribute CJSW can muster. Our condolences go out to Ron's family and friends in this time of loss. We'll do all we can to recognize the memories Ron has left for all of us.
